Objectives:
1. State the two main goals of a human factors approach to problem solving.
2. Describe the five elements of the SEIPS model work system and how interactions between the elements result in work processes that yield both wanted and unwanted work outcomes.
3. Discuss the potential impact of mismatches between work requirements and human capabilities and the importance of a good fit between people, the tasks that they carry out, and the tools and technology that they use to perform those tasks.
4. Explain how poor balance in the work system can create barriers to optimal performance.
