Candida Auris - Addressing the Emerging Pathogen
Jim Gauthier
Candida auris is an emerging fungus that presents a serious global health threat. The CDC is concerned about C. auris as it is often multidrug-resistant and can be difficult to identify with standard laboratory methods, and has caused outbreaks in healthcare settings. For this reason, it is important to quickly identify C. auris in a hospitalized patient so that healthcare facilities can take special precautions to stop its spread. This course discusses the history of C. auris, the reservoir and mode of transmission, and the susceptible hosts. The speakers also outline recommendations and actions to prevent and control the spread of the organism.
